From December 24-26, 2021, youths and young adults from parishes around the country gathered in Cleveland, NY, for the annual St. Herman’s Retreat. The theme of this year’s retreat was prayer. On Saturday afternoon, Father Daniel Meschter spoke on the importance of both communal and private prayer. The retreat was blessed to have a visit from His Eminence, Metropolitan Demetrius, who spoke about the importance of silence and gathering one’s thoughts before entering into prayer. Presentations were also given on the orthodox perspective on mediation and yoga, along with a preview of a documentary about the establishment of several new Orthodox churches during a recent mission trip to Nigeria.
